It’s evident that the landscape of human resources is continually evolving, presenting both challenges and opportunities for businesses worldwide. In these dynamic times, adaptability and innovation are not just virtues but essential components for success.
Reflecting on the past few months, we’ve witnessed a myriad of developments just within CXL Group alone and this is good news for our clients because as organisations strive to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in their people management strategies, the demand for flexible, scalable HR solutions has never been greater. To be able to meet these incremental demands is something we find particularly satisfying. With this in mind, I’m thrilled to share about what we’ve been developing in the office so far this year.
“For People & Businesses to Thrive” – A CXL Vision
…because when people grow, the business grows!
First up, our new Learning, Development and Consulting division or LDC in short. I touched on this in my January blog but for those who missed it, here’s a quick takeaway about our pursuit for continuous learning that goes all the way up to the C-Suite level.
CXL Group’s LDC service is divided into three distinct parts:
- People – open to all levels of the company.
- Leadership – aimed at the management team and C-Suite executives.
- Consulting – pure HR consulting, tailoring solutions for the clients.
The segmentation speaks for itself but we’ve also gone a step further by offering modules developed by the renowned international training brands of IToL (The Institute of Training and Occupational Learning) and IoL (The Institute of Leadership) from the UK instead of concocting untested syllabus all by ourselves. As a validation to the quality and standards of the programmes in their respective fields of training and leadership, they are IToL and IoL accredited. These accreditations strengthen CXL Group’s mission in steering towards our clients’ corporate ambitions.
The rationale behind LDC is also to position CXL Group as a One Stop Centre for all things HR Outsourcing. By doing so, decision makers at our clients’ offices will have easier access to a training provider like CXL Group to meet all their needs.
For example, if a client is looking to improve productivity or office relations among colleagues, the PEAK (Personal Excellence and Attitude Kickstart; under People) programme may be the right module to do so. It delves into one’s mindset and attitude as well as teaching the techniques to embrace and turnaround from negative feedback.
For the management level or higher, The Renaissance Leadership programme under the Leadership category may come in handy to drive corporate missions forward.
Disruptive Yet Passive
Another service we find just as purposeful if not more than LDC is a tech-driven enabling endeavour under our Contingent Workforce division. Thus far, based on our research and conversations with people in the industry, this new project may present itself as a disruptive force. The onus as such is on us to strategically introduce it so it can leverage on its unique proposition to make meaningful inroads into the market.
Unlike LDC, this project completes one part of an HR process which until now was missing due to the absence of the right technology, the willingness of the project owner to carry through and the readiness of the community to accept it. Thanks to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and armed with a plethora of technological marvels that were sped up due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it positions us at a sweet spot today to leverage on this opportunity.
But what exactly is this project about? Without revealing too much (before its big day), I can only say that it will open up a dimension of recruitment that has long been discussed but never progressed further, or at least in the Malaysian market. It will also expand the wings of our recruiters and thereby inject more value to their services to the hiring customers by way of speed and of bringing in new resources to the table.
The final piece of the puzzle is anticipated to excite the crowd even more because it will stand as one of the answers to generating a new stream of passive income, not just for CXL staff alone but everyone that comes on board. Suffice to say, we are as eager about this as you but for how all this will work and more, we’ll have to wait until launch day, targeted at some time in the second quarter of 2024.
For the Record
Before I conclude this blog, I’d thought it may be opportune for me to also share a project that has grown organically within the four walls of our office in Kuala Lumpur. Incidentally, this business started when working from anywhere but the office became fashionable and hiring across borders became more acceptable.
Being an Employer of Record or EOR is what the industry calls it as and this is when a HR company like CXL Group employs the staff on behalf of a company residing overseas. Hiring this way yields significant savings when the cross border hire is remunerated at a fair value but becomes financially impossible if the same employment is undertaken in the home country due to the different socioeconomic standings.
At the time of writing, two employees of a Singapore-based client are working from our Kuala Lumpur office. Riding on this experience, we are now seriously looking at extending this EOR service to more clients due to Malaysia’s superior cost factor, specifically from the tech, help desk and back office roles.
To take the EOR service a step further, CXL Group will also be helping clients to source for the right candidates from the right sources. While this is an industry norm under domestic settings, sourcing candidates as an EOR for overseas clients remains a pioneering effort. I believe this value added service will go a long way to addressing the issue of hiring the right talent for the right job.
When our EOR service matures into a rock solid business proposition, CXL Group will also begin collaborating with foreign counterparts so we can cross sell each other’s HR Outsourcing services for our mutual benefit.
With that, I’d say it’s a wrap to the first quarter of 2024 and we look forward to more fireworks in the coming months.

Did You Know?
CXL Group first started as a training provider back in 2008. Known then as CareerXcell, our mandate from the government was to get the fresh graduates up to speed and industry-ready, not only from the hard knowledge they have acquired in college or university but also in shaping their character, attitude and grooming.
Aptly named, the Train & Place programme successfully trained more than 5,000 candidates and this helped plug into the void often raised by employers about what the young graduates lacked back then.
